500 g flour
200 g of sugar
3 large eggs
100 ml warm milk
200 g butter at room temperature
25 g dry yeast
1 tsp vanilla essence (or 2 sachets of vanilla sugar)
1 pinch of salt
100 g of raisins
100 g candied fruit
50 g flour for powder
2 tablespoons oil
zest of 1 orange
80 g of powdered sugar



Cut the butter into small cubes and leave at room temperature. Heat milk.
In a deep bowl, mix flour, dry yeast, sugar and salt.

Make a dimple in the center and add the eggs, orange zest, vanilla essence or vanilla sugar and warm milk (not hot). Mix well the ingredients for 10-15 minutes.
Add butter and knead well for 10-12 minutes.
Incorporate raisins and dried fruits. If fruits are too big cut them into smaller pieces before adding to the dough.

Grease a heat-resistant pan with oil and powdered with flour. Pour dough into pan and allow to rise in warm for an hour.
Heats up the oven to 160 °C (320 °F). Bake the Kugelhupf for 50-60 minutes.
After 50 minutes, check if the Kugelhupf is baked. When ready allow to cool before removing it from the form.
Powdered with icing sugar and serve cold with coffee, tea, liqueurs and sweet wine for dessert.
